You’ll be aware of the latest changes announced by the Scottish Government on Saturday, with Level 4 restrictions extending to all of mainland Scotland for at least three weeks from Boxing Day. Fortunately club cycling can still take place in Level 4, and Scottish Cycling have now confirmed that the relevant rules for this level have not changed (at least for the moment).

The key changes for us will be:

• adult group rides must not now exceed seven people (no limit on the number of households);
• physical distancing is required during the rides, as well as before and after;
• rides must stay within our local authority area, and;
• hospitality restrictions mean that cafes will be closed - although takeaway options might sometimes be available.

All other aspects of the club’s COVID protocol will of course continue to apply. “Informal” non-club rides can also continue, but should be limited to no more than six people/two households with physical distancing.

While this position isn’t great, at least we’re still able to hold club rides – and this level of restriction will hopefully not last for too long. As always, please post below if you have any queries at this stage.
