ICC Saturday Club Ride

Please note that due to Covid-19, this ride is restricted to club members only.

Members must not attend a ride if they have COVID-19 symptoms, have someone in their household who does, are in the extremely vulnerable category, or if they have been asked to remain at home by the Scottish Government Test and Protect system or are subject to foreign travel quarantine restrictions.

The ride will be run in accordance with the club COVID-19 protocol and also Mark's COVID update posted on the 9th August.

The route is an anti-clockwise loop taking in the Black Isle and the Beauly Firth with a cafe stop at Highland Farm Cafe, Dingwall. The distance is approx 58 miles with an elevation gain of 2672 ft. The route can be accessed from the link below and also from the club Strava account.

https://www.strava.com/routes/2898904894194049118

Saturday's weather points to low temperatures, gusty winds and the possibility of light snow showers, so please monitor closely and bring whatever kit and clothing you deem appropriate.

Owing to COVID-19, more time is needed to plan club activities and formulate groups so this ride will be closed at 7pm on Friday evening. Anyone posting after that or turning up without posting will not be allowed to take part. One or two 'hedgers' are starting to reappear so please only post when you know for definite that you're coming along. If unsure, wait until late Friday afternoon.

Meet at Fairways roundabout just off the distributor road at 0850hrs for an 0900hrs departure.

Please also remember to carry an appropriate means to cover your face and sanitise your hands

Lastly, riders should ensure their bikes are mechanically sound before attending a club ride and that the following minimum spares / tools are carried.

2x inner tubes
2x Co2 canisters (& dispenser) or appropriate hand pump
adhesive patches
Multi tool
Quick link (appropriate for your chain speed)
Tyre levers
Chain tool (often part of a multi tool)

Mudguards, rear lights and visible clothing are also preferable at this time of year.

A briefing will also be given before the start of the ride to reinforce the safety standards the club expects whilst out on the road.

See you all on Saturday.

Derek

Closing time extension.

Given the current adverse weather, I'm extending the closing time for this ride until 0800hrs tomorrow (Saturday). This should provide time for a more informed decision on prevailing conditions and hopefully entice a few more out.
