WINTER ZWIFT RIDES

From soundings, there seems a good bit of intertest in getting group Zwift rides up and running again this winter.

These rides are primarily for the benefit of ICC members, but there's no reason why they cannot be extended to prospective club members and invited guests. They also present an opportunity to promote the club and expand the membership whilst also offering something to those we traditionally only see during the midweek summer months.

Therefore, from Monday 30th October, I propose that we start with a Monday Social Ride (45-60 minutes duration) at a pace akin to the Summer Development Rides. Later in the month, we can build on that with the addition of a slightly more challenging Thursday ride which can take on any format such as a quicker group ride(s), short race, hill climb, etc.

For those not familiar, Zwift can be run on a smart phone or tablet. Both the ‘Zwift App’ and the “Companion App’ should be downloaded. The ‘Companion App” is used to connect with other Zwifters and to browse and join events. Rides can also be accessed via the main Zwift.com website using a PC, laptop or Apple TV.

For those considering the platform as a virtual training tool, Zwift offers a two-week free trial before a subscription needs to be taken out.

Upcoming Zwift rides will be available on the ‘Companion App’. To receive notification via the app, members will need to go to the ‘My Club” section and search for and apply to join Inverness Cycle Club.

A dedicated ‘ICC Zwift’ WhatsApp Group is available for ease of communication and to answer any related queries. The link to each ride will be posted to the group chat from where it can be shared with any external guests.

The WhatsApp group is restricted to ICC members only.

Club members will receive an email from the club secretary with additional information and useful support links.
