Hi all,
I'm planning on doing the 3C's Challenge on Sunday 22nd September if anyone wants to join me!?
There are two options - a 54 mile route or 100 mile route. Both are around the Black Isle. The entry fee is £40 if you aren't raising money (and £15 if you are).
Its an event organised by the Oxygen Works which is a charity that helps people living with MS. Luckily they let me use their oxygen compression chamber every day for 5 weeks last year when I badly broke my leg and as far as I am aware it is the only MS charity in Scotland that allows non MS people to use the chamber so it saved me a very lengthy and expensive trip down south!
If anyone wants to join me here is the link:-

Hi peeps....I did this last year and the organisers were genuinely delighted and very grateful to every single person that took part.

This is the event where someone got lost and asked me for directions!!....so we both got lost for a while!

....definitely one to consider...

Have family up that weekend Gemma, otherwise would have been interested in signing up. Sorry can't do this year.

Hi Sally,

I'm not sure I would manage the 100miles, the furthest I've ever done is 110km and usually cramping up by then, i'm probably not very good at pacing myself. So if you and Gemma both decide to do the long distance I will maybe leave you two to it this time.

Thanks

Roy

I'm up for the 100 miles if that's what you're planning Gemma/Sally? Sounds like a fun day out!

So, sally and james shall we do the 100 miles? It's the same loop twice so if for any reason anyone wants to stop after the first loop (50 miles) they can. Think Joe is doing 100 miles too.

Sounds good to me Gemma!

Not sure if it makes any difference but we can put "Inverness Cycle Club" down in the team/club field on the entry form.

Looking forward to it!

Hi Roy,
You should give it a try. Before I did my 100 mile a few weeks ago I'd only ever done 72 miles before. If you are cramping up after the first loop you dont need to do the second. We were saying today we would do it in a group so at a steady pace.

Yep, as we said today it'll be nice to keep a group of us together and just enjoy the day out - no need to race round! My first 100 was in a group and it's so much easier with other people to chat to and share the workload!

Hi all,
I'll maybe sign up for the 100miles then and see how it goes on the day. As you say I can always stop after the first loop. Hopefully it'll not be as windy as it was today.
Thanks
Roy
Ps I've no idea how you all manage to reply to specific posts on the thread.

Hi all.....I’ve signed up for the 100 but the fee is the same for everything and you can just see how you feel on the day. It’s a pretty informal set up and the organisers couldn’t be more helpful or happy to see you taking part. From what Gemma was saying we are very lucky to have it available to us in Inverness and is a great local facility/charity that is well worth supporting.

I did the long route last year in windy conditions mostly on my own and it should be a lot easier as a group so you should be fine Roy but as Gemma said, you can do the first loop and head back to the start if you don’t fancy it.....none of us might fancy it if the weather is rubbish! 😳
Last year there was coffee etc available at the sign in and food available afterwards but not a huge amount to eat available on the route - could be different this year but probably best to bring a supply of what you normally like on a long ride - there was water available at two points last year - haven’t seen the details for next week yet but I’m pretty sure topping up bottles shouldn’t be an issue.

James is right about sharing the work and I’m looking forward to someone else helping on the climb out of Cromarty....I’m looking at you James! 😀😂

See you next week 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️
Joe

That's my entry in for the 100 too (or at least I think so - the site seemed to hang!)

Strava route can be seen here >> https://www.strava.com/routes/21758916

It's showing just shy of the ton but probably just mapping system differences; I plotted it verbatim from the organiser's site.

And yes Joe, I'll certainly help on the Cromarty climb! :)

It’s looking likely I’ll be around for joining in on Sunday.

Last chance for registration is Thursday 11am for anyone else looking to do it.
